Fabric and care

Satin bonnet, one size fits all, with a wide elastic band. Available in black, blue, green, pink and purple.

Hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild soap, then dry flat in the open air. A tumble dryer damages the satin weave and costs it its smooth surface.

How do you wear the Novara bonnet?

Step 1: wait
Put it on dry hair, never on lengths that are still damp

Step 2: gather
Bring your hair up to the top of your head, in a loose bun, with no tight elastic

Step 3: put it on
Slide the band over your forehead then pass the back behind your nape

Step 4: take it off
In the morning, remove the bonnet and shake your head 🌙

Built for colored hair

Eight hours of friction, every single night

We look after our hair in the morning, protect it from the sun, choose our products. Then we sleep on it for eight hours, on a fabric that catches and soaks up.

That is the gap in the routine, and the easiest one to close. A satin bonnet asks for no time and no skill, you put it on and it does its work while you sleep.

Everything about the satin bonnet

What cotton does to your hair overnight

A cotton pillowcase is a rough surface at the scale of a hair. With every turn of the head, the scales of the fiber catch on the fabric, lift and tangle. That is what produces the knots and frizz you wake up with.

Cotton is also very absorbent. It takes some of the water and the products left on your lengths, which end up in the pillow rather than in your hair.

Why does satin make a difference?

Satin is not a material, it is a weave. Its threads pass over several others before going back under, which gives a very smooth surface with few places to catch.

Hair slides across it instead of rubbing against it. It comes out less static, less tangled, and yesterday's style holds up better in the morning.

Why it matters on colored hair

Colored hair is more porous than virgin hair. It holds its water less well, while friction wears it down faster. So the night counts double.

By cutting friction and keeping moisture in, the bonnet preserves how the color looks between two applications of Novara color depositing shampoo.

The evening ritual

Thirty seconds before bed

The bonnet takes no learning. The order of the steps is enough to change how you wake up.

1

On dry hair

Wait until your lengths are dry. Wet hair shut under satin takes longer to dry and tangles more.

2

Gather without pulling

Bring your hair to the top of your head, in a loose bun or simply folded up. No tight elastic, nothing that marks the fiber.

3

Place the band

Slide the elastic band over your forehead, then pass the back behind your nape. The lengths settle into the soft cut.

4

Remove in the morning

Take the bonnet off and shake your head. Detangle with a wide-tooth comb if needed, but the hair already falls back into place.

  • Mornings without knots

The lengths stay gathered and smooth instead of tangling against the pillow. Morning detangling becomes a formality.

  • Less frizz

Satin does not charge the fiber with static the way cotton does. The short hairs on top stay where they belong.

  • Moisture stays in the hair

The fabric absorbs almost nothing. Your evening products work all night instead of ending up in the pillowcase.

  • A band that holds

The wide elastic spreads the tension around the whole head. It holds until morning without leaving a mark on your forehead.

  • Five colors, one size

Black, blue, green, pink and purple. The soft cut suits short hair as readily as thick lengths.

    Satin bonnet or cotton pillowcase?

Both are with you all night. Only one lets your hair slide.

      Cotton pillowcase
    Smooth surface
    Holds moisture in
    Hair kept gathered
    No special care
    Holds all night
    • Satin, not cotton

A smooth surface hair slides across, instead of a rough weave that catches the scales with every turn of the head.

    • A thirty-second step

It goes on dry hair right before bed. No wait time, no constraint, nothing to rinse in the morning.

    • One size fits all

The wide elastic band adjusts to any head size. The soft cut takes short hair as easily as thick lengths.

    • The companion to your color

Novara shampoo puts the color back, the conditioner holds it through the wash, the bonnet protects the fiber for the eight hours that follow.

      Frequently asked questions

Your questions about the satin bonnet

Should it go on dry or damp hair?

On dry hair. Hair that is still damp under satin dries slowly and tangles more. If you wash in the evening, let it dry before putting the bonnet on.

      Does it hold all night?

The wide elastic band spreads the tension around the whole head, which keeps it in place with no pressure point. On very thick hair, gather it into a loose bun before putting it on and it will hold better.

Does it work with short hair?

Yes. The soft cut asks for no minimum length, it simply covers the whole head of hair. It is on the short hairs on top that the anti-frizz effect shows fastest.

      How do you wash it?

By hand, in lukewarm water with a mild soap, then dry flat in the open air. Avoid the tumble dryer, which damages the satin weave and costs it its smooth surface.

      Will it flatten my hair?

Hair comes out gathered, not flattened. Tying it into a loose bun on top of your head before putting the bonnet on even keeps the volume at the roots.

Can I use it after a Novara coloring?

Yes. That is the best moment for it. Freshly colored hair is more porous, and therefore more sensitive to friction and water loss. The bonnet limits both.

Do the colors rub off on the pillow?

No. The satin is dyed through and releases no pigment. A hand wash before the first use is still a good habit, as with any new textile.
